Through journalism school, I traveled to visit the top media organizations in New York City and practice multimedia storytelling in France!
I’m Gabrielle Lopez, writer and storyteller.
My curiosity led me to study journalism and sociology at the University of Oregon. I have since developed skills in reporting, writing, and editing to share stories about society for society. At UO, I had the opportunity to mentor Latino middle and high school students through a student-run magazine: Inspirar.
Today, I reside back home in El Paso, TX, where I am in the process of writing my undergraduate thesis. My research follows and observes immigration discourse on social media on Instagram news pages based in El Paso.
Currently, I intern at the El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center, where I proudly coordinate social media posts celebrating my city’s heritage.
